The giant fountain, found on the surface of Yasaka Lake near the Miwa park golf course, is a device for preserving the water quality of the lake.

This mechanical equipment sucks up cold water at a level of two meters below the surface, sprinkling water up to 30 meters high, over an area about 50 meters across. The amount of water expelled from the device roughly equals thirty millimeters of rain per hour.
