An-on Jizoubosatsu, a guardian deity of children, was built in memory of construction of Yasaka Dam to pray for the safe and effective flood control operations of the dam along with development of the region. The large one is Gasshou Jizou and the relatively smaller one Roku Jizou. Both stand to the west of Joshin square which can be found about two kilometers heading to the pathway which leads to Miwa town. The two guardians sit as if they are looking down at Yasaka Dam. Visitors pray at the center of the scenic Yasaka Valley, enjoying the superb view of Shirataki and Iitani mountains. The green leaves in spring that change into vivid red in autumn, the chirps of birds that fill the woods, and mountain shapes against the blue sky are all beautiful, keeping visitors fascinated with the scenery. |
